This isn’t a crafty post, but today is my dog’s 12th birthday!
We adopted Ralph when he was 8 weeks old, and he quickly became part of the family. In fact, I don’t think he has a clue he’s a dog–he thinks he’s one of the kids! I can’t imagine a pet that fits our family any better than he does. He’s sweet, laid-back, and loves nothing more than sitting in the recliner all day on Sundays, watching football with Travis.
Ralph is a Bichon Frise, named after the bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley. For those of you not familiar with Dr. Ralph, he was from this area and passed away recently. He had a head full of white hair–much like our Ralph. We adopted Ralph just after my 30th birthday. I had a really hard time turning 30, and on my birthday Travis and I attended a work event featuring Dr. Ralph in concert. When we were invited, Travis made the comment “that’s just what Stephanie needs on her 30th birthday–to hear Ralph Stanley sing ‘O Death'” . But, we went and had a great time–obviously, since a couple of weeks later we named our new puppy after him!
Tonight, we will celebrate with Ralph and give him his presents. Happy birthday, Ralph!
